Wine Menu’s Chardonnay & Pinot Noir Festival

4 April 2018

Anytime is Wine O’Clock and we, Likers Of Things, know and love that statement a little too much. Wine Menu’s Chardonnay & Pinot Noir Festival is back this May and all we have to say is… pour it up! Pour it up!

The Chardonnay & Pinot Noir Festival is the only focused showcase in Gauteng of these two noble varietals.

Wine Menu’s popular Chardonnay & Pinot Noir Festival – regarded as one of the country’s most exclusive boutique wine tastings – returns for its seventh outing and will once again feature an impressive selection of South Africa’s best chardonnays and pinot noirs.

“This is a targeted wine experience that focuses on the flavours and nuances of these two famous Burgundian varietals. Generally, many high-end, award-winning pinot noirs and chardonnays are not shown at other festivals because they are often too expensive and with too small a production. People who come to The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Festival are generally passionate and knowledgeable about wine and are interested in these varietals.” ~ Wine Menu’s Corlien Morris

Some of the wines that will be available for tasting on the night include Ataraxia’s Pinot Noir 2015 and their Chardonnay 2016, the Vondeling Chardonnay 2017, the Lothian Pinot Noir 2016, the Lothian Vineyard Selection Chardonnay 2016 and the Groot Constantia Chardonnay 2017. Glenelly, Springfield, Bouchard Finlayson, and Domaine Des Dieux as well as various others will also be represented.

  1. I would be delighted if you would promote the Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival on your website. It means so much to the wineries to get good promotion.
The 28th Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival will be held at Park House Events,
    7th floor Hyde Park Shopping Centre, Johannesburg on 5 & 6 June 2018 from 17h00 – 21h00

    It’s time to toast the
28th Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival
    on 5 & 6 June 2018 from 17h00 – 21h00
    at Park House Events,
7th floor Hyde Park Shopping Centre, Johannesburg.

Uniquely tailored to showcase the industry’s premier names, this is the most exclusive, longest running wine festival in South Africa.

“Our philosophy has always been to showcase limited quantities of exceptional wines which portray a ‘sense of place’. It is a vitrine of the Cape’s finest cellars – handpicked for their quality and distinction. Most have excelled internationally, which accounts for the success and continued popularity of South Africa’s most coveted annual celebration.”

The industry’s cellar-celebs, bring their latest vintages and special bottles of aged wines and discuss everything from wine evolution to regional differences.

In honour of my induction to the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin in May 2018, the Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival will highlight the grapes Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown in Burgundy.

The Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin – “Fraternity of Knights of the Wine-Tasting Cup” – is an exclusive bacchanalian fraternity, founded in 1934. The celebrated events are held in the 12th century Château of Clos de Vougeot in the Côte d’Or region of Burgundy, France.

Our 18-year sponsorship with Standard Bank confirms their dedication to the wine industry, and our commitment to satisfy palates and stimulate debate. We’ve built our reputation on continuity and a commitment to offer an optimum experience for both winery and taster. This year should be our best yet, as small, select boutique wineries present innovative blends in the old IMAX theatre in Hyde Park.

The Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival is the ideal forum for unsurpassed social interaction between wine aficionados and gifted cellar masters. Life-long friendships are forged. It’s a time to taste, experience and interact with great names, or simply learn how to distinguish a Chenin Blanc from a Chardonnay.
    And it’s fun!
