Triple Three Gin

“Beloved, we join hands here to pray for gin. An aridity defiles us. Our innards thirst for the juice of juniper…” — Wallace Thurman, Infants of the Spring
We are well within the era of gin… and what a sensationally satisfying gin era it is. What is it about gin that inspires a devoted following? The drink that is trending all over the world has, in recent years, experienced a revival similar to the great Gin Craze of the first half of the 18th Century.
After a couple of centuries of mediocrity, the past five years have seen gin holding its own once again, with craft distilleries opening up, and weird and wonderful varieties hitting the shelves.
Unlike the 18th Century craze, however, this one has not required five major Acts of Parliament to control gin consumption. But has the current passion for gin reached its peak? Is everyone searching for the next big thing?
“The gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen’s lives, and minds, than all the doctors in the Empire.” ~ Sir Winston Churchill
The Likers of Things Experience
Now that we have entered the topic of gin, we had the pleasure of visiting a stellar quality and proud generation gin distillery, Triple Three Gin. A few weeks ago we took a scenic trip down to Broadlands, Capetown for a tour and tasting experience.
We entered the somewhat secret building (secret because you cannot tell from the outside its a distillery) into a room of copper barrels and a history of quality. With our little technical gin knowledge (because we like things… we know how to drink), we were welcomed to beautiful mix of Triple Three Gin and tonic infused drink… HELLO AND YES!
The afternoon progressed to an insightful afternoon of gin learning, tasting, eating and more gin tasting. No complaints heard. View our full experience here.
Get To Know Triple Three Gin
Three Generations. Three Pot stills. Three Flavours. The triple threat that makes this gin of impeccable standards along with the key essential steps of time, filtration and spring water. The craft of slow distilled, hand crafted gin has its roots in the Black Forest of Germany. It is based on knowledge that has been passed down through generations. Distillers from that tradition can be recognised by the innate sense of ‘knowing’ that they have for what separates an excellent gin from the rest.
It is that heritage that makes Triple Three’s three gin varieties – Just Juniper Berry, Citrus Infusion, and African Botanicals – stand head and shoulders above the gins that are flooding the market right now. The claim is backed by prestigious awards: the Double Gold Michelangelo Award for the Just Juniper in 2017 and 2018; the Gold Michelangelo Award for African Botanicals in 2017 and 2018 and the Platinum for Citrus Infusion in 2017.
“But what we are seeing is that the public is becoming more educated about what makes a quality gin. I think that the mass-distilled gins with the kind of flavours that need to be masked with a good tonic water, are on their way out.” ~ Dirk Ullrich, CEO of Merriment&Co
